EL PASO - Eight El Paso Independent School District administrators could be fired by trustees as more information becomes public in a testing and grading scandal.
Four of the eight told the El Paso Times that district officials still haven't told them why they face possible dismissal Tuesday. One says he told district, state and federal officials repeatedly about serious problems at Bowie High School, where he worked previously.
An outside audit made public Monday found systematic test rigging and grade manipulation. El Paso High School superintendent Lorenzo Garcia pleaded guilty to fraud in the scandal and is serving a 3½-year federal prison sentence.
About 300 people attended a community meeting Monday night in which some speakers raised employee fairness concerns. Supporters say the educators deserve the chance to defense themselves.
