70th Golden Gloves Ready to Make History

CORPUS CHRISTI - Golden Gloves boxing returns to the Coastal Bend on Thursday at the Gonzalez Boxing Gym, bouts will begin each night at 7pm, Saturday will be the final night of fights.
This will be the 70th year of Golden Gloves, and the directors have decided to make it a historic one, as for the first time ever there will be a Masters Division Bout.
Porfidio Zamora will take on Beto Gomez on Saturday Night in a rematch of a fight from ten years ago. The two will serve as the oldest fighters in the tournament.
"There will be something historical on Saturday, that is having two boxers that boxed 10 years ago boxing again, the first time Gomez won in the open division so this is ten years in the waiting for Porfidio," said CCPOA Coach Ralph Davila.
Davila went onto to say that he plans to fight next year, and already has his eye on an opponent.
