700 People Evacuated Due to Wildfires

AMARILLO - At least 700 people in three communities have been forced to evacuate in the Texas panhandle.

A large wildfire continues to burn just north of Amarillo.

Officials say up to 100 homes have been lost and up to 12-hundred others are in danger.

The fire chief in Fritch says the entire town is at risk.

The fire started late Sunday afternoon and is being driven by high winds.

Residents were taken to a local school and church where the red cross is helping them.

So far, officials are unsure what caused the fire.
