CORPUS CHRISTI - Corpus Christi ISD Police and medics are investigating an incident at Hamlin Middle School that sent at least 7 students to Driscoll Children's Hospital this afternoon.
Principal Delma Aleida Yzaguirre confirmed police are talking to a student who may have handed out prescription medication to 7th grade classmates.
The principal told us the kids may have taken a sleep-aide.
The principal says after one student came to the nurse's office they started getting word from teachers of other student's falling ill. All were checked out by the nurse as adminstration called 911.There is a concern that other students may have taken pills but did not seek treatment.
Parents were notified by electronic message to make sure their children are okay.
The kids who fell ill showed symptoms of drowsiness and bloodshot eyes.
