ABILENE, Texas (AP) - Police say they've found $60,000 in currency and numerous weapons at a West Texas gold-sales store where an officer fatally shot an armed employee.
Abilene Police Chief Stan Standridge says officers found 131 firearms and 63,000 rounds of ammunition at Abilene Gold Exchange.
He says officers went to the business Thursday with a search warrant, and an officer shot an employee who pointed a gun at them.
Standridge says co-owner Charles Camp was arrested Friday as part of an investigation into failure to report precious metal transactions required by the state and other possible crimes.
The investigation began after detectives learned that some burglary suspects had sold stolen items to Abilene Gold Exchange this summer. Standridge says the business couldn't provide a receipt for that purchase.
