6 Investigates: Mother Says Football Coach Called Son A 'Loser'

ORANGE GROVE -- A mother claims that when she went to Orange Grove High School last Friday to ask head coach Jerry Bomar why her son was not being played in games he called her son a "loser," before making disparaging remarks about her weight.
"He [Bomar] pretty much called him -- or he called him a 'loser,'" said Sharla Lozano. "And I said, 'Don't be talking about my son like that.'"
Lozano admits to making remarks about Bomar's son during their exchange, but she said Bomar continued to call her names. "I got up, started to walk out, and he was -- I told him, I said, 'Now I see why your son turned out the way he did.' That upset him a little bit. He comes at me, 'Don't talk about my boy you f****** b****." And I was like, 'Okay.'"
Bomar's son, Rhett, was recently hired as part of the school's coaching staff, according to the police report.
We tried to contact Bomar, who is also the school's athletic director, by several means, but were unsuccessful. School officials told us he was not there because it was an off-week for football, and the street he lives on is gated. We called him, but the person who answered said he was not available before hanging up.
The school superintendent, Lynn Burton, released a statement which reads in part: "The principal at Orange Grove High School recently received a complaint from a parent about a school employee. The principal conducted a thorough investigation of this complaint. Based on the principal's investigation, the district has implemented appropriate actions regarding the situation."
Orange Grove police would not comment on the incident.
