CORPUS CHRISTI - The young mother accused of abandoning her infant child to avoid getting caught stealing baby formula from a local grocery story pleaded not guilty to child endangerment charges.
Ashlee Castillo, 24, a.k.a Ashlee Ramirez, faces up to 20 years in prison on the charge.
KRIS-6 Investigates last month reported the Nueces County District Attorney sought an indictment against Castillo.
The indictment stems from an April 15th incident at an H-E-B Plus on Saratoga Boulevard.
That is when authorities say Castillo fled after being confronted for shoplifting baby formula.
She's accused of leaving her baby behind in the process.
In our investigative report last month, we found multiple Facebook postings, both recent and old, where Castillo attempted to sell baby formula.
Castillo, who will not agree to on-camera interview, has said she did not steal the baby formula and did not abandon her child.
