CORPUS CHRISTI - 6 Investigates is looking into a frightening ad on Craigslist, warning of predators in our area.
It actually features pictures of two men and emails for eight others claiming those men will physically harm you.
But, turns out, the people named and pictured in that ad may actually be the victims.
The ad claims the men named in it are looking for sex and "want to hurt you."
We reached out to all the men named in the ad, and two responded, saying they don't have any idea who posted it or why.
"I moved here over the summer for work and I don't have any friends here, I didn't know anyone," said one of the men pictured in the ad.
So, he says, he decided to look for love on Craigslist.
He shared emails with about a dozen women and that's when he decided to swap photos with them.
"I shared pictures with some, I don't post pictures directly," he said.
Two of those photos now appear in this Craigslist posting that warns of men who will "physically harm you."
It goes on to say "Corpus Christi police are taking action."
Police cannot confirm that, they searched but couldn't find such a case.
We won't identify the man we spoke with, but he says police could not find a case because it's absolutely not true.
"This is a serious allegation that could cause problems for someone, that's a pretty slanderous ad," he said.
It's an ad he says he didn't even know existed until we reached out to him by email.
"Thank you for bringing it to my attention. I would have never known otherwise," said the man.
What he does know now is that Craiglist is not a place he'll use to look for love. "You don't have any intentions to be on Craigslist anymore?" we asked him. His reply? "Not unless I'm looking for a used washing machine, no."
We did check with police to find out if there are any potential charges for posting that ad and pictures with such serious allegations, if they are not true. Police say, really, it's more of a civil case.
The problem is we have no idea who posted it and neither do police.
It just goes to show you, you might want to be careful before sharing any of your pictures.
