TAMPA, Florida - Dozens of people were taken to hospitals in the Tampa, Florida this afternoon following a major pileup blamed on heavy rain.
Troopers say they've never seen a crash as large as what they are dealing with on Interstate 75. At least 70 vehicles were involved in the crash on an overpass in Sarasota County.
52 people were taken to area hospitals, some in critical condition.
The stretch of road will likely be closed for the rest of the evening as the investigation gets underway and tow truck drivers sort out the mess.
