51st Annual Navy Regatta

CORPUS CHRISTI - Dozens of sailing ships took off from the marina Saturday morning to N.A.S. Corpus Christi for the 51st Annual Navy Regatta.

More than 35 boats took to the water in an event where military sailors command civilian ships and sail from the yacht club to the navy base, all in the name of fun and fellowship.

"This is just an event that means a lot to a lot of people, both military and civilian, and we try to keep it going and we hope to keep it going for another 51 years," says Teri Ficken, regatta organizer.

The regatta wraps up Sunday.
