CORPUS CHRISTI - If you're just itching to catch some fireworks head out towards Ingleside where a crew spent the morning at Kiewit setting up for an aerial display tonight.
The pyrotechnics experts claim it will be the biggest display in South Texas this year.
The gates at Kiewit open at 7:30 with the show getting underway at 9:30 p.m. The address is 2440 Kiewit Rd, Ingleside, TX.
On that note, there are new rules in place concerning fireworks in Corpus Christi that you should be aware for the 4th of July.
It's still illegal to use fireworks within the Corpus Christi city limits, but it is no longer illegal to simply possess them.
There is a catch. The fireworks packaging may not be open and if kept within a vehicle, they cannot be within the passenger compartment. That means place them in the trunk of a car, in the bed of your truck, or in the very back of an SUV or van.
In previous years, Corpus Christi police and firefighters have stopped people leaving fireworks stands as they headed into town.
This year officers and firefighters will team up for directed patrols to deal with reports of fireworks calls within neighborhoods on July 4th. If you wish to report anything, call 886-COPS (2677).
The city's Independence Day celebrations feature the Big Bang 4th of July Parade at 10:30 a.m. along Shoreline Boulevard. After dark, there's a Harbor Bridge light show from 9:15 - 9:30 p.m., which will be followed by the fireworks show from the deck of the USS Lexington.
The Shoreline Boulevard bayfront and parks along Ocean Drive permit an excellent view of the display.
Kingsville - Possession and use of fireworks prohibited within city limits. $225 fine per incident
