HARGILL - Three South Texas children have died after an early morning fire engulfed the Hargill home where they slept.
Edinburg fire Chief Shawn Snider says the home was engulfed in flames when firefighters arrived to the rural site shortly after 5 a.m. Sunday.
Snider told KGBT-TV that four people escaped, including three adults and a 7-year-old boy. He said the victims included a 15-day-old infant, a 1-year-old and 3-year-old.
The Hidalgo County fire marshal is investigating the cause of the fire. Snider told The McAllen Monitor that neither the mobile home nor adjacent trailer had a smoke detector.
