GLOUCESTER TOWNSHIP, N.J. (AP) - Police say a man being processed on a domestic violence charge grabbed a gun, then shot and wounded three officers at a police station in southern New Jersey before he was killed.
Police say Eddie Jones III overpowered an officer inside the police station in the Philadelphia suburb of Gloucester Township. They say he grabbed the officer's gun and shot her and two officers who came to her aid. Jones was then shot to death by police.
Sgt. James Garber was shot multiple times and underwent emergency surgery; his life was saved by a bulletproof vest.
Sgt. Kevin Thine and Officer Ruth Burns also were shot. All are expected to recover.
Police say Jones was arrested for stalking the home of a former girlfriend shortly after 1 a.m.
