CORPUS CHRISTI - A car wreck Monday night killed two people and sent two more to the hospital.
It happened around 9:20 on the westbound side of SPID just before Paul Jones.
Last night, police said a Chevy Silverado 3500 hit a stationary Isuzu Rodeo, but details on the exact cause of the crash were unavailable. A Chevy Silverado 1500 and a Volvo S80 were also involved in the crash.
The two victims, a 27-year-old and 20-year-old man, died at the scene. One of them ended up on the opposite side of the freeway.
The extent of the survivors' injuries are not known.
Police are looking into speed, alcohol, or a mechanical failure as contributing factors in the crash. No charges are filed at this time
SPID in the area was completely shut down for until the early hours of the morning.
Originally, they had one lane going east bound open, but closed to for clean up in the area.
Many viewers called to tell us about a helicopter hovering around the area of the accident. Police said they borrowed the helicopter from DPS to make sure no one else was thrown from any of the cars. They did not find anyone.
