EL PASO - Leaders of a West Texas school district embroiled in a testing scandal have suspended two administrators as part of the firing process.
El Paso Independent School District trustees on Tuesday gave notice to Luis Liano and Vanessa Foreman. Officials declined comment on whether the suspensions are related to the scandal that's put the district under a state conservator.
Ex-El Paso High School superintendent Lorenzo Garcia in October was sentenced to more than three years in prison after pleading guilty to fraud.
Liano is an ex-El Paso High principal and current athletics facilitator. Foreman is a Title I (one) Schools director. Attorneys say their suspensions will be appealed.
The district in late February received a draft of an external audit ordered by the Texas Education Agency. Details haven't been made public.
