EL PASO - A 1966 Ford Mustang has been seized and the driver arrested after border officers in West Texas found nearly 80 pounds of marijuana hidden under the front fenders.
Customs and Border Protection officials in El Paso say the pot was discovered in the iconic vehicle during an inspection at the Paso Del Norte border crossing.
Port Director Hector Mancha on Tuesday said it's a bit unusual to see drugs in a collectable or high-value car. He says the drugs and the vehicle were confiscated and the driver from El Paso arrested during Saturday's incident.
CBP says the Ford Mustang was dismantled and compartments were discovered under the front fenders, yielding dozens of plastic-wrapped bundles of marijuana.
