CORPUS CHRISTI - Police shut down part of I-37 after an 18-wheeler tipped over. Police say the driver was taking the turn near Rand Morgan a little too fast. That's when they say the big rig rolled on its side.
Authorities say he was hauling 40,000 pounds of barrite which is used for drilling natural gas.
"Looks like he probably misjudged the angle of the exit and the load shifted. It's a lot of weight and it pulled the tractor right on over, " says Michael Schmidt, Corpus Christi Fire Department Battalion Chief.
Crews dumped sand over the diesel that leaked out of the truck before the roads were re-opened.
The driver, who was not hurt, was ticketed for failure to control speed.
