17 Families Displaced By Fire

CORPUS CHRISTI - An apartment on the city's north side is empty this morning following a fire Tuesday night. Investigators believe the fire was intentionally set. They're looking for a woman seen running form the complex right after the fire started.

Firefighters say smoke was pouring out of the converted apartment complex on the 1500 block of Ramirez St. when they got to the scene.

A number of people were trapped on the second floor of the building. Rescuers had to break windows and save them by ladder.

Crews treated at least three people for minor smoke inhalation. The Red Cross is helping 17 families who were displaced as a result of the fire. The organization provided 25 people with food and temporary shelter.
