INDIANA - Police say a 13-year-old boy was injured after a carjacking Thursday night on the east side of Indianapolis.
Authorities say it started when a man jumped into a car at a gas station and took off.
A clerk says a woman started to panic because she left the boy in the car while she paid for the gas.
Police say the suspect didn't know the teen was in the car at the time.
Investigators say the boy either jumped out of the car or was dropped off by the suspect near a Waffle House.
He was taken to a hospital and is expected to be fine.
Police say the suspect ended up crashing the car, which was not being chased, as he was getting off an interstate highway, with the car bursting into flames.
Police say they arrived to find him outside the car.
He was hospitalized in serious condition.
