CORPUS CHRISTI - National Taco Day is, officially, on Friday, Oct. 4 but Fuzzy's Taco Shop is celebrating early. Today, all day, the new restaurant located in The Market at Timbergate shopping center on S. Staples St. is offering $1 tacos to all customers. Taco 'bout a good deal!
While the history of the taco is unknown, taco experts say the word originated from explosive devices silver miners in Mexico used in the 18th century to extract ore from rock. In 2012, it's estimated Americans consumed 4.5 billion tacos; that would equal 490,000 miles of tacos which could take you on a trip to the moon and back. 4.5 billion tacos would weigh in at roughly 775 million pounds, the weight of two Empire State buildings.
Fuzzy's is located at 6646 S. Staples St. They are open 7am-10pm. Phone: (361) 452-1914.
