HOUSTON - Investigators in Houston say a pedestrian died after she was pinned to a light pole by a shuttle bus that crashed at the Texas Medical Center complex.
The Houston Fire Department says 11 people on board were injured Wednesday night. The woman who was killed had been standing near the pole.
Authorities say the driver of the bus, which is used to haul employees around the sprawling hospital campus, may have suffered a medical problem. Deputy Chief Fernando Herrera says a passenger then apparently tried to steer the vehicle but the shuttle hit the pole.
Herrera says 17 people were on the bus. The driver and 10 passengers were treated for injuries ranging from cuts and bruises to a broken arm.
