ROCKPORT - The last time the Rockport Softball team made the playoffs most of their current members hadn't even been born. In fact their assistant coach was just a kid at the time, but now 17-years later and these Lady Pirates aren't just in the postseason, they're looking to make a nice run.
"It's crazy how well we click as a team, we are so focused on and off the field and we are like first time best friends and it's just awesome," said Infielder Logan Polasek.
The Lady Pirates will face Carrizo Springs on Friday in Hebbronville in a one-game affair, if Rockport wins, they'll make program history as the Lady Pirates have never won a playoff game.
"I think people have overlooked softball and we have set a standard and we will keep doing this year after year after year," said Pitcher Kaylee Polasek.
Their motto for this season is, "Pain is Weakness Leaving the Body" it's a motto they proudly wear on the backs of their practice shirts.
"When we field each ground ball and get tired we know pain goes away and we remember we did it in practice and can get through anything in a game," said Logan Polasek.
And win or lose on Friday night teams in the Coastal Bend better look out for this program, they have just four seniors on the roster so they will be a solid team for years to come.
"I think it's outstanding for our young girl's, we have just four seniors and we are best friends and we get along," said Infielder Danielle Gonzales.
