KISSIMMEE - This Spring Training is a bit different than most for Jon Singleton, who is working out and playing just like everyone else, but come the regular season he'll be removed from the Houston Astros for 50-games serving a suspension for test positive for marijuana use.
The former Hooks first baseman hit .284 with 21 homers and 79 RBIs last season, then went 3-for-4 with two runs and an RBI in Team USA's 17-5 victory in the All-Star Futures Game in Kansas City in July.
When I caught up with him at camp he elected to not comment on the drug use, but did talk about how he was handling camp and the upcoming suspension.
"You definitely gotta stay positive that has been my biggest key stay positive and come to the ball park with a smile on my face," he said.
Most expect Singleton to begin the year in Triple A.
