HOUSTON - Everyone knew Lauren Schwirtlich was something special as we watched her grow up leading the Cherokee Softball team at Tuloso-Midway High School.
She was simply head and shoulders above the competition, then as a freshman she earned Big 12 All-Conference honors at Texas A&M. Personal issues then led her to leave the Aggie program to be with her family, but she has now found a home at Houston Baptist where she is quickly emerging once again as a star.
As of now, Schwirtlich ranks 2nd in batting average in the NCAA Division I rankings, hitting an incredible .500, which is also tops on her team. Her on base percentage meanwhile is .581, also best on the team.
The Huskies will be in action next this weekend at Nicholls State.
