LAKE CHARLES - Former Refugio standout turned McNeese State thrower Thomas Canchola was selected as the Southland Conference's Men's Athlete of the Week.
Canchola was named the league's men's field athlete of the week after he set a school record in the weight throw this past Friday at the McNeese Indoor I meet. His mark of 58-8.75 on his first throw broke the old school indoor record of 57-5.50 set by Jared Crafton in 2010.
Canchola also placed third in the shot put with a mark of 49-1.50.
