JIM WELLS COUNTY- One man is dead after a car accident just outside of Alice on Tuesday evening.

DPS troopers say just before 6:30, 62 year old Johnnie Wayne Martin was headed north on 359 between Alice and Orange Grove when he pulled onto the right shoulder of the road.

Martin went to make a u-turn, but was hit by another car coming up behind him.

Martin was thrown from the car and pronounced dead at the scene.

He wasn't wearing a seatbelt.

His three passengers were, and they suffered non-life threatening injuries.

The driver of the other car wasn't injured.
