CORPUS CHRISTI - The teen accused of killing his mother in a brutal manner will head to trial on a murder charge. The Nueces County Grand Jury reviewed the evidence in the case on Thursday and issued the indictment against 18-year-old Kevin Davis.
Investigators say Davis confessed to killing 50-year-old Kimberly Hill at her apartment back in March.
According to the arrest affidavit, the mother was strangled with an electrical cord, hit over the head with a hammer and stabbed in the head.
Detectives stated they also found notes suggesting Davis planned on killing his sister when she came home, but she never did return that night to the Windrush Apartments on Kostoryz.
Davis was arrested the next morning after he asked to use the phone at a home out in western Nueces County. He called 911. The couple who lives there says the teen had a bicycle and a backpack stashed by some nearby railroad tracks.
A trial date has not been set.

CORPUS CHRISTI - A teen accused of killing his own mother asked for a court appointed attorney this morning during his first court appearance on a charge of murder. Kevin Davis, 18, is held on a $2 million bond.
The couple who first came in contact with Davis early Thursday morning says he just rang the doorbell at their house out on County Road 61. They say he was calm and quiet as he asked them to call 911 so he could confess to killing his mother.
On request from the Sheriff's Office, Corpus Christi police went looking for Kimberly Hill at apartment #1707 of the Windrush Apartments. They found her dead from what appeared to be hammer blows to the head.
Documents state Davis confessed to the murder and told officers he would kill again. The arrest affidavit states on Wednesday night Hill was strangled with an electrical cord, hit over the head with a hammer and stabbed in the head.
Detectives were also told by Davis that he had planned on killing his sister as well, but she never came home that night. Notes allegedly left at the crime scene also detail what Davis planned to do, according to court documents.
The couple out on County Road 61 says Davis had a bicycle and a backpack stashed by some nearby railroad tracks. One would think he planned on getting out of town on the bike, but for some unknown reason he decided to surrender instead.
There's no comment from police on a motive for the killing of Kimberly Hill. Her death is the seventh homicide in the city of Corpus Christi for 2014.
