CORPUS CHRISTI - The big upper level storm system that has been spinning in the northern plains and brought all the devastating tornadoes to parts of the country is slowly pushing to the northeast and away from the area and will relax our winds for the next few days as the associated front fizzles just north of the area.

Today, look for a fair mix of clouds and sun with the hazy conditions continuing and a stray shower early in the day. Highs will range in the lower 90s with heat index values once again pushing 100+ degrees. Winds: SE 10-20mph

Tonight will be fairly quiet with low clouds slowly moving back in overnight. Lows will be slightly cooler as they fall into the mid-70s with light winds.

A few more clouds will stick around in the afternoons on Thursday and Friday and may cool us off a degree or two, nonetheless, still very warm to hot. The winds will pick back up as we head into the Memorial Day weekend with very dry conditions persisting.

CORPUS CHRISTI - The winds have been howling out of the southeast for a few days now reaching near 40mph each afternoon. With this flow, we continue to get a lot of smoke in our air due to the agricultural burnings occurring in Mexico and Central America.

Today expect the winds to be slightly less, but still breezy around 15-25mph. Highs will still be hotter than normal for this time of year and we should top out around 93 degrees again for the third day in a row under mostly sunny skies.

Tonight there will be a weak upper level disturbance that will move from west to east and ignite a few showers and thunderstorms in the overnight hours. Activity should remain to the west, but cannot rule out a few of those reaching the Coastal Bend. Lows will drop in the upper 70s.

Still no big changes in the weather pattern as highs will remain in the 90s for the next 7 days with lows coming down slightly as the winds relax into the mid to lower 70s with no big chances of rain.

CORPUS CHRISTI - A relatively quiet weather pattern will remain in place this week as our summer-like weather pattern continues with very warm to hot temperatures, a few clouds, breezy to windy afternoons, and only a small opportunity for some light showers late Tuesday and early Wednesday.

Today, look for a hot, hazy, and windy afternoon with a high around 93 degrees. We'll keep a fair amount of cloud coverage with still some peaks of sunshine throughout the day. Winds: SSE 20-30mph and gusting around 40mph.

Tonight the low clouds return and we are in store for a humid and above seasonal average evening with temperatures only dropping into the upper 70s.

A front will stall just to our north around mid-week and set off a few showers for our northern and western counties. Widespread rain is not likely at this point. Agricultural burnings in Mexico and Central America continue and our southeast winds will continue to bring a smokey haze to our air.

CORPUS CHRISTI - A summer-like weather pattern has taken over the Coastal Bend as the rain we had this past week, which was badly needed, has moved far away from us leaving hot temperatures and mostly sunny skies.

Today expect lots of sunshine this afternoon with windy conditions and an afternoon high in the lower 90s near the coast and upper 90s inland. Heat index values for our inland areas will surpass the century mark again, same as yesterday, so outdoor plans should be accompanied with plenty of water. Winds: SE 15-30mph & gusting.

Tonight some low level clouds will once again move in
making for a humid and mild night with lows in the middle 70s.

The weekend looks like much of the same with lots of wind and very warm temperatures still in the 90s. Beach to Bay runners will start Saturday morning near the upper 70s with temperatures rapidly increasing to the upper 80s by noon. Winds will steadily increase as well out of the southeast. Stay hydrated and best of luck!

Have a great weekend!

CORPUS CHRISTI - The upper-level low that was the culprit for a few showers and some thunderstorms the past few days here in the Coastal Bend has moved off to the northeast creating some devastating weather in the form of tornadic activity for the northern and eastern parts of Texas in the early Thursday morning hours. As the low continues to move away, our rain chances will move away as well and warm, dry, and breezy conditions will now take over our area.

Today expect mostly cloudy skies to start the day with gradual clearing taking place by the early afternoon with lots of sun and a steamy high of 91 degrees. Winds will be moderately strong out of the SSE around 15-25mph and gusting around 35-40.

Tonight, some low level clouds return and low level moisture will make for a mild and muggy night with an overnight low in the mid-70s. Winds: SE 10-15

The weather pattern does not change a whole lot for the end of the week, the upcoming weekend, and through the start of next week. Highs will range from the lower 90s in the afternoon with nighttime lows in the middle to upper 70s. Winds will remain constant as well through the 7-day extended with no rain and a fair mix of clouds and sun (more sun though).

CORPUS CHRISTI - As an upper-level low out to our northwest continues its migration to the northeast, we will have one more day to see some rainfall associated with this system.

Today look for mainly cloudy skies with widely scattered showers and thunderstorms throughout the Coastal Bend. Temperatures will still be on the steamy side with upper 80s near the city and lower 90s possible in the inland areas. Winds will pick up out of the southeast around 15-25 with gusts as high as 30 possible. As winds pick up, rainfall chances will begin to diminish this evening.

Tonight the winds will relax somewhat under partly to mostly cloudy skies and mild temperatures only dropping near the mid-70s.

We begin to dry out by tomorrow with breezy and very warm conditions heading into the weekend with temperatures near or exceeding 90+ degrees with partly cloudy to mostly sunny skies. Heat index values will approach the century mark for the weekend so be sure to stay hydrated and cool with planned outdoor activities.

CORPUS CHRISTI - All eyes are in northern Mexico as the upper level disturbance that has kicked a few showers and thunderstorms our way and helped bring some much needed rain to the Coastal Bend will finally start to move to the northeast and into the Plain states and give way to a few more showers in the area.

Today we will see mainly cloudy skies with a couple of showers/drizzle spots and perhaps a rumble of thunder or two for a lucky few. Humidity continues to build in with the winds out of the southeast around 10-20mph and highs getting into the lower to mid-80s.

Tonight seems the best opportunity to pick up a few more
raindrops in the bucket as the upper low kicks up to the northeast so we'll look for isolated to scattered showers, light winds, and lows in the upper 70s.

Rain chances will stay through the early afternoon hours on Wednesday before they quickly move north of the area (along with the upper level low) and we begin to dry out. A few clouds will stick around Thursday, but temperatures will start to heat rapidly as we could see upper 80 to 90+ degree temperatures going through the weekend with breezy/windy conditions.

CORPUS CHRISTI- The upper level disturbance in Mexico that has sent areas of atmospheric instability our way providing much needed rain for the area will be moving northeast out of Mexico and into the central plains states will bring scattered thundershowers to the area Tuesday night and Wednesday before big winds kick in sending our rainfall opportunity away. This will also result in higher humidity and hotter daytime highs.

Tuesday expect a lot more clouds breezy humid and warm with isolated showers only and a high of 84.

Tuesday night expect scattered thundershowers, not much wind warm and sticky with a low of 71.

Wednesday we will have more winds pushing scattered thundershowers inland away from the coast remaining mostly cloudy warm and humid with a high again of 84.

CORPUS CHRISTI/ROBSTOWN- Hurricane season begins June 1st and today the Regional Emergency Medical Task Force had a full exercise in case of a major event.

Government Affairs Public Information Officer Tyner Little says, "This is a regional effort and it's also an opportunity for the region to get their equipment out and operate their equipment, set their equipment up in order that it's needed and to stay trained. That's what we're trying to do is stay trained!"

The mobile medical unit tent is set up for first responders to treat many injured people after a hurricane with tornados hits.

Nurse Manager from Spohn-Shoreline, Pennie Mathewson says, "It's a very learning experience for all of us. This is the first time we've worked with all these tents, staging area here. Working out the kinks in it. Seeing the things that we need, maybe are missing. Again it's a work in progress and I think we did a very good job.>

After nurses analyze your injuries, they'll be the ones that decide if you go on the mobile medical unit to area hospitals for more medical treatments.

Ambulance bus driver, Frank Torres says, "We carry enough fuel to run for 36 hours and we have enough oxygen on board to treat 18 patients for up to 96 hours without having to restock."

The medical ambulance bus can transport 18 patients laying down or up to 24 patients just sitting up. This evacuation ambulance is prepared for a big event.

Regional Advisory Council member, Rick Adams says, "It's good to shake it out, get these people trained and ready. I think the results would be a rapid response in hopefully saving of lives."

Drying Out Today; Showers Return Tuesday & Wednesday http://www.kristv.com/news/drying-out-today-showers-return-tuesday-and-wednesday/ http://www.kristv.com/news/drying-out-today-showers-return-tuesday-and-wednesday/ Weather Mon, 13 May 2013 4:24:40 AM Meteorologist Juan Acuña Drying Out Today; Showers Return Tuesday & Wednesday

CORPUS CHRISTI - Not a bad weekend in the rainfall department as some area locations picked up well above one to two inches over the Mother's Day holiday. Officially here in the city, we picked up three tenths (.30") of an inch bringing our monthly total to just over six tenths (.60") bringing our overall deficit for the year just over four and a quarter inches. Obviously those who have been lucky enough to get the heavier downpours, rainfall for the year is looking decent.

Today we will dry out somewhat as the sunshine will return under partly cloudy skies. Temperatures should max out in the middle 80s. Winds: ESE 10-20mph.

Tonight the clouds will return with relatively cool temperatures in the middle to upper 60s. Winds: ESE 4-8mph. Some dense patchy fog will be possible going into Tuesday morning.

Showers and a few thunderstorms return the forecast for Tuesday and on into Wednesday as the upper level low that brought all the rains begins to move northeast across the state. Highs will cool a few degrees in the upper 70s to lower 80s. Beginning on Thursday temperatures really begin to heat back up under partly to mostly sunny skies, breezy conditions, and highs in the upper 80s to (90s out west) with overnight lows returning to the middle 70s.

Have a great week!

CORPUS CHRISTI - It was certainly nice to see some rainfall in the overnight hours which lead to a few lucky spots receiving an inch to an inch and a half under the heavier thunderstorms. However, for most, the average rainfall amount was only about a quarter of an inch. Something is certainly better than nothing as we are just over four inches below normal for the year.

Tonight, the clouds will begin to stream overhead once again as a relatively mild and muggy night is in store as temperatures fall into the upper 60s to lower 70s. Winds will be out of the north-northwest around 5-10mph.

Mother's Day will be warm and humid with a healthy mix of clouds and sun with a few showers and thunderstorms still possible. Highs will range from the upper 70s to mid-80s in the afternoon. The upper level low which brought us all our rainfall the past few days will hover to our west in Mexico and fire up a few showers, though most of that should remain to the south and west of us. At this point, cannot rule out a stray shower or thunderstorms for the area.

The pesky low will remain in place out to our west giving some rain chances to areas along the Rio Grande and Rio Grande Valley for the next few days and mainly throw cloud cover our way. However, beginning on Tuesday the low will finally meander to the east and give us the opportunity for a few showers until Wednesday. Rainfall amounts will not be much though. Highs remain in the 80s the next several days with mild and muggy nights.

Happy Mother's Day to all areas Mom's!

CORPUS CHRISTI- Currently there is no severe weather in the area. A large are of rain is moving in from the west and the severe thunderstorms near Laredo are weakening as they move in this direction. Expect rain to move over the area the rest of tonight with mainly moderate rainfall and occasional lightning. It does not appear that the thunderstorms and showers will be severe.

A severe thunderstorm watch is in effect until 2AM for the entire Coastal Bend. Our atmosphere is becoming increasingly unstable as a weak front and an upper level disturbance move our way. Hail damaging winds and heavy rain are possible with these storms.

Tonight expect scattered to numerous showers and thunderstorms with locally heavy rain and a low of 67.

Tomorrow we will have scattered thundershowers gradually ending by afternoon less humid and not as warm with a high near 80.

Mother's day looks better with less wind cooler than normal with a high of 79 under mostly cloudy skies.
