CORPUS CHRISTI - The cold airmass that arrived earlier this week is continuing to filter very cold air into the area this afternoon with highs only in the mid-40s. As clouds begin to slowly thin out and winds relaxing some, overnight temperatures are expected to tumble in the mid to lower 30s for tonight. In response, the National Weather Service office in Corpus Christi has issued a Freeze Warning for the entire area which begins just after midnight and until 8AM.

This is the first freeze warning of the season and residents are urged to protect sensitive vegetation and protect outdoor pets to protect them from the very cold temperatures. A hard freeze is not anticipated with prolonged temperatures below 30 degrees, so pipes should be fine for tonight. A light faucet drip should suffice.

Tonight, expect those temperatures to be in the lower 30s and hovering around the freezing point of thirty-two degrees.  Locations directly along the coastline should remain above freezing around 35-37 degrees.   Wind chills, even with the winds calming down around 7-14mph, will fall to the middle 20s by early Friday morning. Be sure to bundle up the kids and yourselves as you make your way out the door Friday morning.

We should begin to see some sunshine heading into Friday afternoon with highs in the middle 50s. Clouds will return over the weekend with a few light showers and drizzle as highs continue to climb in the mid to upper 60s. The next front will arrive by Sunday evening and bring another dose of cold temperatures for early next week.
