() () Thu, 17 Apr 2014 09:04:25 GMT Synapse CMS 10 144 25 Former Calallen Star Duke Joins Fury Sports - Fury Fri, 13 Dec 2013 4:13:27 PM Corpus Christi, TX - The Corpus Christi Fury signed the Calallen Standout QB and Pitcher Ryan Duke to
play for the team in 2014. The team has also re-signed two of the team's key wide receivers from the
2013 squad, John Moreno and Joel Lemons.

Ryan Duke has signed to play quarterback and wide receiver for the Fury in 2014. Duke was a 3 year
letterman in football at Calallen High School. He was named the 2004 All South Texas Newcomer of the
Year. He was also an All State Honorable Mention QB in 2005-2006. Ryan was named the 2006 All South
Texas Player of the Year. During his time at Calallen, Duke threw for 5,494 yards and 78 touchdowns
with a completion percentage of 59% with a total of 441 completions. He was also able to rush for 2,089
yards and 32 touchdowns. He also led Calallen to the ONLY state finals game appearance in football.

Duke played college baseball at the University of Oklahoma where he was named to the 3rd team All
American Relief Pitcher in 2009. Over the course of his college career, he was the career leader in saves
with 35. He also had a career era of 3.68 with a 15-9 record and 161 strikeouts to only 59 walks. Ryan
was drafted in the 25th round by the Philadelphia Phillies where he most recently pitched in their Triple-
A organization in 2012. Coach LaDaniel Marshall said, "We are really excited to have Ryan playing for us
this year. He gives us another versatile quarterback on the roster. Having a quarterback that can run the
ball as well as he throws the ball gives us a lot of options on offense."

The team has also re-sig
ned 2 receivers from the 2013 championship game squad. Former Tuloso-
Midway receiver Joel Lemons will be returning following his 2013 UIFL Rookie of the Year season. At
Tuloso-Midway, he was an All-State athlete in Basketball, football, and track. He played both football
and basketball at the University of Houston. Lemons started every game during his rookie season and
scored at least 1 touchdown in every game this year. He finished the season with 14 TDs. During the
2013 season, Lemons also received an Ironman award for playing both wide receiver and linebacker.
During the 2013 UIFL Championship Game, he played linebacker, wide receiver, and long snapper. He
had 9 receptions for a total of 138 yards and 2 touchdowns and also recorded 5 solo tackles in the game.
John Moreno will also be returning to the team to add another target for the quarterbacks to throw to.
He was an integral part of the team filling in at multiple positions on the offensive side and even threw a
touchdown pass in the game against the Missouri Monsters.

Fury QB Kent Signs With San Antonio Talons Sports - Fury Fri, 26 Jul 2013 3:57:44 PM Corpus Christi, TX - Corpus Christi Fury Quarterback Robert Kent has signed with the San Antonio Talons of the Arena Football League. Kent is scheduled to suit up for the Talons this weekend as the Talons host the Philadelphia Soul.

Kent signed with the Fury after playing professionally for the Tennessee Titans and numerous arena and indoor football teams. He led the Fury all the way to the Ultimate Indoor Football League championship game in the team's inaugural season. Kent led the Ultimate Indoor Football League in passing and also led the Fury in rushing during the 2013 season.

"We are excited for Robert to have the opportunity to play for an AFL team," stated Head Coach LaDaniel Marshall. "Players work all year long looking for the opportunity to move up to the AFL and I am proud that one of our players has been given the opportunity to show what he can do." Kent will be playing in the talons final regular season game on Saturday vs. the Philadelphia Soul.
