CHANGES COMING FOR DEFENDING CHAMPIONS
Fury to Join X-League for the 2015 Season
Corpus Christi, TX - For the second time in two weeks, the X-League Indoor Football League
has announced league expansion for the 2015 season. The Corpus Christi Fury, who won the
2014 Ultimate Bowl 4 Championship Game on August 2nd by a score of 60-23 over the Florida
Tarpons, is the newest member of the league.
The announcement comes just days after the league announced that the Cape Fear heroes were
joining the X-League, joining the Alabama Outlawz, Florida Marine Raiders, Florida Tarpons,
Georgia Rampage, Savannah Steam, and the St. Louis Attack as the teams set to kick off the
2015 season. X-League Commissioner Michael mink stated, "We are extremely excited to have
the Corpus Christi Fury as part of the X-League and look forward to a great upcoming season in
2015. The Fury brings a championship program both on and off the field that will challenge for
an X-Bowl title every year. The league is also working on additional expansion in the near
future.
The Fury join the X-League after completing its second season in the UIFL and appeared in the
championship game both seasons and completed this past season with an undefeated record and
dominated the Tarpons. "We are excited to join forces with established teams we have played
against in the past and reignite some previous rivalries," said General Manager Robert Wehling.
"We are focused on the 2015 season and continuing to build on the momentum from our
championship win."
With these most recent additions, the X-League will have an extremely competitive league by
having five of the eight teams in the league having played in a league championship game in
2014. In addition to the Fury having played in a championship game, the St. Louis Attack played
against the Florida marine Raiders for the X-League championship and the Cape Fear Heroes
played in the AIF championship game.
This addition will increase the league presence in the Southwest Region and increase the
intensity of rivalries. This may not be the final list of teams for the 2015 season, as the league is
still reviewing expansion applications as well as talking to additional established teams about
joining the league.
