CORPUS CHRISTI - Former Jackson State Quarterback Robert Kent has signed with the Corpus Christi Fury. Kent has a 19-1 record over the last 2 seasons while playing for the former SIFL Houston Stallions.

Kent made his first All-SWAC team as a freshman in 2000. The 6'5" Quarterback also brings a vast amount of arena football experience with him to Corpus Christi. He has played for the Birmingham Steeldogs, Lubbock Renegades, and Oklahoma City YardDawgs of the AF2 and with the Houston Stallions of the SIFL. In only 6 games with the Stallions last season, Kent threw for over 1,600 yards and 39 touchdowns. "Having a player like Robert playing in Corpus Christi this season is going to make our offense very explosive," stated Head Coach LaDaniel Marshall. "I have watched him play for several years and have always been impressed with his ability and knowledge of the indoor game." Kent said, "I am excited to come back to Corpus Christi and finally play for the home team. The team plays in a first class arena and the fans here in Corpus Christi have always been great to play in front of. I am proud to be a part of a great organization like the Fury and hope to be able to bring a championship to this city, stated Kent. Kent also had a brief stint in the movie industry where he was one of the stunt doubles for The Rock in the movie The Game Plan.

Hello Fury, Goodbye Hammerheads http://www.kristv.com/news/hello-fury-goodbye-hammerheads/ http://www.kristv.com/news/hello-fury-goodbye-hammerheads/ Sports - Fury Wed, 12 Dec 2012 3:03:44 PM Tyler Garrett - tgarrett@kristv.com Hello Fury, Goodbye Hammerheads

CORPUS CHRISTI - After nine seasons, nearly half a dozen different leagues and a trio of different home arenas the Corpus Christi Hammerheads are no more. Owner Chad Dittman has shut off his most recent cell phone number, and former staffers close to the team say the Hammerheads are finished.

But that doesn't mean Arena Football is gone, enter the Corpus Christi Fury who will make their debut in March as member of the Ultimate Indoor Football League. The team will call the American Bank Center home, and the league will include teams from Georgia and Florida amongst other states. That means less bus trips, and more plan rides.

The Fury will hold its first official press conference on Thursday afternoon to announce their coach and a few players. You can expect to hear several familiar names, both on the roster and within the front office staff.
