When you're in high school, we all dream and imagine of what prom is going to be like. My prom was awesome. It was held on May 11, 2013. It was everthing I imagined it to be...people dancing everywhere, great food and music, beautiful decorations, people laughing and smiling all around me. Prom was a blast, but it was also kind of sad. It's your last high school dance. After prom you're one step closer to graduation and one step closer to actually growning up. My advice would be cherish your high school years and make every day a great day to remember. It will be over before you know it. Make awesome memories. I know prom will forever be my favorite memory of high school.

Foreign Exchange Student Represents Lady Texans in State Track Meet

Maike Paellmann, a Ray High School student and a foreign exchange student from Germany, represented Ray with pride. Our Lady Texan placed 9th in state in 100M Hurdles at the State Track Meet held in Austin last weekend. Way to go, Maike!!

Lady Texan Golf Team Wins Second in District

The W.B. ray Lady Tean Golf team won 2^nd place at the district tournament! They advanced to the regional Tournament in San Antonio at the Golf Club of Texas. The girls had a great season and did well at Regionals. Sarah Cobarruvias finished 12^thin the Region. Way to go girls!

The Ray Girls finished 2nd place behind Flour Bluff.

Old Tradition with a New Face

Recently at W. B. Ray High School, tryouts for mascot have taken place. The mascots at Ray High School include "Tex" and his girlfriend "Mary Lou". After a week of tryouts, a new Tex and Mary Lou were selected.

Since the founding of Ray High School in 1950, Tex has always stood as the mascot. In past years, it was decided that Tex needed a girlfriend and then came "Mary Lou". As tradition, Tex and Mary Lou stand as seniors and are present at many sporting events and play a great role in pep rallies. It is now a tradition that the mascots create a skit and present it at the pep rallies in front of the student body.

Current Junior, Carolina Barron, who is set to be Mary Lou for the 2013-2014 school year is excited to serve as the school mascot. "It's a great opportunity. I love making people smile and laugh, and this position is a perfect way to do that." Barron and James have both begun talking about future skits and ways to get more people interested in the success of their school.

Although there are many ways to approach this, Barron is sure about one thing. "Ray is a school full of tradition. While we're going to begin our own traditions, we're definitely going to make sure that we incorporate the old ones as well."

Kemah Tennis Tournament

Jacob Ayala and Ryan Pickett won first place in boys doubles at the Kemah tennis tournament on March 23. After the tournament the team got to go to the board walk in Kemah and ride roller coasters.

Lady Texan Wrestlers Shine at State

On Saturday afternoon, February 23, the State Wrestling finals began with the parade of champions. Lucy Hamilton got ready for her 3rd place match and ended her season with a WIN!! Lucy Hamilton finished her senior wrestling career as a State Bronze Medalist.

Sophomore, Christine Chessher, stepped onto the mat for the Championship Match as a returning State qualifier. Christine had the opportunity to be the first Gold Medalist at Ray High School. At the end of 6 minutes, Christine lost her match earning her a silver medal.This was the best finish for any Texan Wrestler at Ray High School.

The girls team placed 8th in the state !!
