Maclovio Perez returns to the Coastal Bend to serve as broadcast meteorologist for KRIS New at Sunrise.

Maclovio is named after his father and he carries the name proudly but he has been referred to as "Mac" by his friends since his days in Little League.

Maclovio has earned a distinguished, 30-year career in broadcasting. He began in radio in his home town of McAllen, Texas.

As a student at the University of Texas at Austin he moved into television reporting. He earned his degree in Journalism. After filling in on the weather segment, the audience response was so positive that management assigned him permanently to the weekend weather slot.

Maclovio spent his first semesters at Texas A&M College Station studying meteorology but was quickly offered a TV weather job in San Antonio. Mac completed his studies in Meteorology at Mississippi State University and is continues working on his Master's degree in Geosciences.

After 5 years as "the number one weatherman" in San Antonio, Mac was recruited by KCBS TV in Los Angeles. Mac spent 16 years on the air in Los Angeles becoming a household name in Southern California. In addition to his weather duties, he provided for environmental reporting, public affairs programming and hosted a children's game show for 8 years.

Maclovio returned to Texas in 1997 having worked here in the Costal Bend and in San Antonio. He began with KRIS in 2013.

Mac has racked up a wall of awards during his career. He received an award for his "Innovative Smog Reporting" by the Air Quality Management District to and an award for "Outstanding Broadcasting" by the Texas Farm Bureau. Maclovio has always been active in community affairs serving as public speaker at numerous events.

Maclovio is married to his high school sweetheart, Frances and they have 4 children.

Originally from the Klein area northwest of Houston, Matt Terhune was destined to become a meteorologist. Hurricane Alicia hit Houston in 1983 and accented his interest in hurricanes. "The eye of the hurricane came directly over my house. We went out for a few minutes to survey the damage in the sunshine. A few minutes later, we went back inside, just before the backside roared through."

Matt headed to Texas A&M Unversity-College Station to pursue a degree in meteorology. Four months before college graduation, Matt began his first job in Waco at ABC affiliate KXXV as a weekend weatherman. Upon graduation in May 1999, Matt moved to Waco and transitioned to full-time as the morning meteorologist.

Two years later, Matt moved to the Coastal Bend, and he began his career at KRIS Communications as the morning/noon meteorologist. Matt was on the air during big weather stories like the Del Mar West Campus and Driscoll Middle School tornadoes in October 2002, Hurricane Claudette in July 2003, the Christmas 2004 snowstorm, the September 2010 record high Oso Creek flash flood, and the 2011 ice shower.

Matt enjoys working in his yard, fixing up his house, and spending playtime with his two children.

Matt has a Bachelor of Science degree in Meteorology from Texas A&M University-College Station and is a member of both the American Meteorological Society and the National Weather Association. He received the Caller-Times Best of the Best Reader's Choice award for local meteorologist in 2005. Matt has also lectured broadcast meteorology at Texas A&M University-Kingsville.

Award winning Chief Meteorologist, Dale Nelson was born in Dayton, Ohio. He received his Bachelor of Science degree in Meteorology from the University of St. Thomas in Houston and earned the prestigious American Meteorological Society Seal of Approval in 1979.

Dale began his professional TV career as a back-up meteorologist for WCMH in Columbus, Ohio. He then moved on to the Chief Meteorologist slot at KTIV in Sioux City, Iowa. In 1981, Dale found his home at KRIS. As Chief Meteorologist, Dale has been recognized for his achievements nearly every year of his career at KRIS.

His awards include the Associated Press' "Best Weathercast" and the Corpus Christi Caller Times "Best of the Best" award - every year since 1995.

You can hear Dale's daily weather forecasts to thousands of radio listeners on Oldies 93.9 KXMR and KRYS K-99.

Dale is in constant motion and is in demand all over our viewing area. Dale enjoys speaking to civic groups and to kids at their schools. He is involved in The Alzheimer's Association and Women's Shelter fundraising efforts - along with numerous area festivals like the George West Storyfest.

You will always find him at the KRIS Spring and Fall Home & Garden Shows. Dale has a serious green thumb and has even created his own highly sought-after tomato formula prized by backyard gardeners.
