    The federal government is moving ahead on a plan to lease oil and gas parcels in and around Choke Canyon reservoir, despite protests from the City of Corpus Christi and an environmental watchdog group. Concerns that fracking activities might lead to groundwater - and reservoir - contamination are fueling those protests.

    A man accused of shooting and killing a father in front of his wife and baby was in court today. Romualdo Gonzalez pleaded guilty today charges of murder and aggravated assault, and asked that his trial date be set.   Gonzalez is accused of fatally shooting 23-year-old Gilbert Trevino at a motel on Leopard Street in September of 2017. Gonzalez remains in the Nueces County Jail on a $1 million bond.
