    The Corpus Christi Police Department Special Weapons and Tactics (SWAT) team assists local, state and federal agencies on high-risk operations. The team frequently works with the bomb squad, which requires a greater need for special protection. The Corpus Christi City Council will vote today to approve the purchase of new gear for the SWAT team. The new gear will equip each team member with updated ballistic protection that will boost the safety of officers in high-risk situations

    The Texas Workforce Commission (TWC) has awarded Coastal Bend College a $322,707 Jobs and Education for Texans (JET) grant. The grant will help the school district purchase and install equipment to provide 135 students with training for careers in the nursing profession. The purchased equipment will continue to support the nursing program and future students enrolled with Coastal Bend College.

    Construction of the new Harbor Bridge has led to some closures that will impact travel in the Comanche/Crosstown area. The Comanche Street bridge and the Comanche/Lipan exit have been shut down. The bridge will remain closed until further notice. The Comanche/Lipan exit will be shut down until May 2018. Work crews will begin drilling next to the Comanche street bridge next week as part of the construction project.

    If you want to get in on some Halloween fun, Corpus Christi's Fright Night Haunted House is now open. 

    The Haunted House premiered two new attractions on Friday the 13th. One of them is even 4D. Those attractions will be running every weekend until the end of the month. In the week leading up to Halloween, the Haunted House will be open for six days straight.

    If you want to get in on some Halloween fun, Corpus Christi's Fright Night Haunted House is now open. 

    The Haunted House premiered two new attractions on Friday the 13th. One of them is even 4D. Those attractions will be running every weekend until the end of the month. In the week leading up to Halloween, the Haunted House will be open for six days straight.

    The city of Port Aransas is a step closer to cleaning up the piles of storm debris from Hurricane Harvey.  According to the mayor of Port Aransas, the city has finally received government approval to remove storm debris from private property.  It was nearly a month that the city had been waiting for that approval.  The mayor says that the cleanup of the streets in Port Aransas is about halfway completed.

    Steve Coon, Owner of Coon Restoration specializes in restoring historic buildings like the old Nueces County Courthouse. Coon says when he heard about the 103 year-old building up for sale, he knew right away he had to see it in person.  Coon said, "I was originally brought in to take a look at the courthouse to see if it was worth saving and after walking around the courthouse and going inside, I fell in love with the facility."

    The City of Corpus Christi rolled out a new web page today in an effort to keep residents updated on the city’s continuing efforts to pick up brush left over from Hurricane Harvey. The website also has advice for residents to help expedite pickup.

    An accident involving three vehicles slowed down traffic at the Everhart and Saratoga intersection Wednesday morning. A blue Fiat could be seen flipped over on its side.
