    With Memorial Day weekend upon us, the Coastal Bend Veterans Cemetery is asking for volunteers to help honor those who made the ultimate sacrifice for their nation. Starting tomorrow, the cemetery is asking for help placing flags on each grave, and with thousands of graves at the cemetery help is certainly needed.

    Spring Break and SandFest were like pop quizzes for the town of Port Aransas and its road to recovery. Now, the final test - Memorial Day Weekend - is coming up.

    The success from the first two weekends has many, including Alice Bearrow, the manager at Virginia's on the Bay, feeling hopeful for the summer tourist season.

    "It was very good for Sandfest," Bearrow said. "We had a lot of people. It was so nice."

    Students from a welding class at Veterans Memorial High School are helping out one of their own. Last week, the class got a tip that a local veteran was in need. The vet recently bought a ramp for his scooter, however the ramp was weak and fragile.
