    A local doctor who pleaded guilty to a felony charge avoids time in prison. A few months back, Dr. Michael Pendleton admitted to keeping false prescription records. He was sentenced to five years probation in federal court on Tuesday. Pendleton faced up to four years in prison and a $250,000 fine.

    A portion of Alameda is closed this morning while crews continue to make repairs to a water main break, according to city officials.  Michael Olivarez, water superintendent with the city, said a 16 inch transmission line broke around 3 a.m. Thursday. Officials report moving 52.5 million tons of products through the Port between January 1 and June 30 of this year.  Officials with the Port are attributing the growth, in part, to a nine percent growth in crude oil and a two percent increase in all other petroleum products compared to the same time period in 2017.  "In 2017, the Port recorded its second highest year ever in tonnage, at 102.4 ...

    Governor Greg Abbott authorized Texas Flags in Nueces County to be flown at half staff in honor of the life and service of Judge Robert "Bobby" Balderas.  Balderas passed away yesterday after battling liver cancer.  The governor mad the announcement today after a request from Nueces County Judge Loyd Neal.  According to the governor's office, flags should return to full staff on the day after Balderas' funeral service on July 19 .

    Port Aransas Police are trying to figure out how a local woman drowned. According to police, someone found 38-year old Jennifer Greene's body Wednesday afternoon in the surf near the jetties. When paramedics arrived, they administered C.P.R. several times but she was unresponsive. Port Aransas Police Chief Scott Burroughs said Greene owned a taxi cab company in Port Aransas and was well known in the community.

Bridger says the plane landed safely and was towed to a hangar for inspection.

    New District 27 Representative Michael Cloud will begin work today, taking over the rest of scandal-plagued Blake Farenthold's term that ends in January.  Cloud will be sworn-in at 5:30 p.m. (central) in Washington D.C. after winning the special election last month.  Cloud captured nearly 55% of the vote in the special election. Cloud will run again in November for the next full-term.

    Thousands of butterflies are migrating through South Texas.     Captain Sally Black with Baffin Bay Rod and Gun shot video of the migration on Friday. She was out fishing with clients in the Upper Laguna Madre when this swarm of butterflies made their way to the area. The butterflies were varying in the numbers but the thickest swarm lasted about five minutes.

    Corpus Christi Fire Fighters say a lightning strike may have been the cause of a house fire in the 1300 block of Brentwood Drive this afternoon.  According to CCFD, residents reported hearing a loud bang, followed by flickering lights at the house before reporting the fire at 12:25 p.m. Investigators were not on scene to determine the cause of the fire, but Frank Solanski with CCFD's Battalion 2 says it appears that a lightning strike likely caused the blaze.  Solanski sa...
