    After living and forecasting weather in the Coastal Bend for thirty five years now, there is one dominant theme in every hurricane season that I have been a part of since 1981. Nearly all of the storms that have made a direct hit here were weak and did little to no damage, while the ones that were destructive hurricanes hit elsewhere on the Texas coast and had little to no impact on us.

    With the tropical wave now onshore it is now dragging rich tropical moisture across the eastern third of the Coastal Bend in a very unstable atmosphere. This is producing locally heavy downpours which is causing localized flooding. The upper level low associated with this system will drift slowly southwest into Mexico by late Wednesday resulting in a gradual

    More heavy thundershowers will roll over the region today as the weather system is overhead. We could see an additional 4 - 6 inches of rain in the next two days. We won't see any clearing until Thursday when the weather system moves into Northern  Mexico.  Friday and into the weekend will be partly cloudy with only isolated light showers. Today: Periods of Heavy Showers. High 85. Wednesday: Periods of heavy showers. High 86. Thursday: Numerous heavy showers. High 87...

    A tropical wave will continue to advance slowly onto the Texas coast and bring some beneficial rain to the area over the next three days with the majority of the rain falling on Tuesday and Wednesday. Some areas will get more than others due to the nature of the tropical showers. Tonight will be very humid and warm with showers redeveloping near the coast and a low of 76. Tuesday expect
